Change the hours Calendar shows in Day and Week view
Quick answer
In Calendar, choose Calendar > Settings, click General, and change Day starts at and Day ends at. The hours at a time menu next to them sets how many hours fit on the screen at once.
Why it happens
Day and Week view are built around a working day, so Calendar shows a fixed block of hours and makes you scroll for the rest. Out of the box it usually runs from 8 AM to 6 PM. Your events outside it are still there, just off screen.
How to fix it
Open Calendar, then click Calendar in the menu bar and choose Settings.
Click General. Use the Day starts at menu to pick the first hour you want to see, for example 6 AM for early starts.
Calendar›Settings…›General›Day starts at
Set Day ends at to your last hour, say 11 PM if you plan evenings. Then pick how many hours show at a time, so a long day fits without scrolling.
Close the settings window and switch to Day or Week view. The grid now starts and ends where you chose.
Still not fixed?
If you see a seven-day week but only want weekdays, change Days per week in the same General settings.
Calendar›Settings…›General›Days per week
If the hours look right but text is cramped, show fewer hours at a time. Each hour then gets more room and short events are easier to read.
These settings belong to Calendar on your Mac only. Your iPhone and iPad keep their own view, so changing them here won't move anything there.
If Calendar forgets your hours every time you open it, restart your Mac and set them again. If they still won't stay, contact Apple Support.
Questions people ask
How do I see my evening events in Calendar without scrolling?
Set Day ends at to a later hour in Calendar's General settings, and show more hours at a time so the whole day fits.
Can I make Calendar show only working hours?
Yes. Set Day starts at and Day ends at to your working hours. Events outside them stay in your calendar, you just scroll to see them.
