Where to find Control Panel on a Mac: it's System Settings
Quick answer
Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner and choose System Settings. Or press Command-Space, type settings and press Return.
Why it happens
On a Mac, the place that does the job of Control Panel is called System Settings. It holds Wi-Fi, displays, sound, accounts and everything else. Each app also has its own settings, which you'll find under the app's name in the menu bar.
How to fix it
Click the Apple menu at the top-left of the screen and choose System Settings.

Or press Command-Space to open Spotlight, type settings and press Return.
Use the search field at the top of the System Settings sidebar to jump straight to a setting, such as Wi-Fi or Sound.
Want your own shortcut? Open Keyboard, then Keyboard Shortcuts…, then App Shortcuts. Click the Add button (+), choose All Applications, type System Settings… exactly as the menu shows it, and press your keys.

Still not fixed?
Can't see the Apple menu? The menu bar may be hidden. Move the pointer to the very top of the screen and it slides down.
Looking for an app's options instead? Open the app and press Command-Comma.
If System Settings won't open or closes by itself, restart the Mac and try again.

If it still won't open after a restart and an update, contact Apple Support.
