See the battery level of your mouse, keyboard or AirPods
Quick answer
Open System Settings and click Bluetooth. The battery level shows next to each connected device in the list.
Why it happens
Apple accessories report their charge to your Mac over Bluetooth, so the Mac can show it for you. It only appears while the device is connected. Many headphones and mice from other makers don't share their battery level at all, so nothing shows for them.
How to fix it
Turn the accessory on and make sure it's connected. A mouse should move the pointer, and AirPods should be in your ears or in an open case nearby.
Click the Apple menu, choose System Settings, then click Bluetooth. Look under My Devices: a small battery icon and percentage sits beside each connected device.
Bluetooth
Want it one click away? Add Bluetooth to the menu bar, then click its icon at the top of the screen to see the same battery levels.

If the level is low, plug the accessory in with its charging cable. Your Mac also shows a notification when an Apple mouse, keyboard or trackpad is running low.
Still not fixed?
No battery showing at all? The device may not be connected. Turn it off and on, then check it says Connected in Bluetooth.
If the percentage looks wrong, charge the device fully, then turn it off and on so it reports a fresh reading.
For headphones or a mouse from another maker, check the device itself or its own app. The Mac can only show what the device sends.
Install any waiting macOS update, since accessory support improves over time.

If an accessory empties fast even after a full charge, its battery is worn out. That's hardware. Contact Apple Support for Apple accessories, or the maker for anything else.
