Get back menu bar icons hidden by the notch
Quick answer
Open Menu Bar in System Settings and turn off the Menu Bar Controls and app icons you don't need. The hidden ones slide back into view as space frees up.
Why it happens
On MacBooks with a camera notch, the menu bar has less room on the right. When the icons don't fit, macOS simply hides the extras instead of squeezing them in. Apps with long menus on the left take space too, so icons can come and go as you switch apps.
How to fix it
Open System Settings from the Apple menu and click Menu Bar in the sidebar.
Under Menu Bar Controls, turn off the items you rarely click, such as Spotlight, Siri or Now Playing. They stay reachable from Control Center or with their shortcuts.
Menu Bar›Menu Bar Controls
Scroll to Allow in the Menu Bar and turn off apps whose icons you don't need up there.

For a quicker clean-up, hold Command and drag an icon down off the menu bar until it disappears. You can also Command-drag icons sideways to put the ones you need nearest the clock.
Still not fixed?
Quit apps you aren't using with Command-Q. Their icons leave the menu bar too.
Many apps have their own Show in menu bar option in their settings. Turning it off there frees space without quitting the app.
Switch to an app with short menus, such as Finder, and check whether the icon appears. If it does, it was only hidden for lack of room.
If an icon stays missing with plenty of free space and the app is allowed in the menu bar, restart your Mac, then contact Apple Support if it's still gone.
