See which apps can use your Mac's location
Quick answer
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. Every app that can use your location is listed there with a switch, so you can turn off any you don't want.
Why it happens
Apps have to ask before they use your location, and each one you allowed is listed in Location Services. Once allowed, an app keeps that access until you change it. A quick look shows who can see where you are.
How to fix it
Open the Apple menu, choose System Settings and click Privacy & Security.
Click Location Services. You'll see every app that has asked for your location, each with its own switch.

Turn off the switch next to any app you don't want to know where you are. You can turn it back on here whenever you like.
Scroll down to System Services and click Details… to see what macOS itself uses your location for, such as setting the time zone.

Still not fixed?
To stop every app at once, turn off the main Location Services switch at the top. Find My Mac and automatic time zone need it, so they stop working too.
Websites can ask too. In Safari, choose Safari > Settings…, click Websites, then Location, and change any site you don't want.

Worried about people rather than apps? Open the Find My app and check People. Anyone listed there can see your location if you share it, and you can stop sharing with them.
If you think someone is tracking you without your permission, check your iPhone's settings too, and contact Apple Support for help with your account's safety.
