Make and answer iPhone calls on your Mac (or stop the Mac ringing)
Quick answer
In FaceTime on your Mac, choose FaceTime > Settings, click General and tick Calls from iPhone. On the iPhone, check Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls on Other Devices and turn your Mac on.
Why it happens
Your Mac borrows your iPhone's phone line, so both sides have to agree. The Mac rings only when Calls from iPhone is on in FaceTime, and the iPhone lets the call through only when your Mac is allowed in Calls on Other Devices. Both must be signed in to FaceTime with the same Apple Account.
How to fix it
Open FaceTime on your Mac, choose FaceTime > Settings, and click General. Tick Calls from iPhone to take calls on the Mac, or untick it to stop the Mac ringing.
FaceTime›Settings›General›Calls from iPhone
On your iPhone, open Settings, tap Apps, then Phone, then Calls on Other Devices. Turn on Allow Calls on Other Devices and switch your Mac on in the list.
Keep the iPhone near your Mac and on the same Wi-Fi network. The Mac shows a notification when a call comes in, so click Accept to answer.
To make a call, click a phone number in Contacts, Calendar or Safari, or use the Phone app on your Mac. The call goes through your iPhone.
Still not fixed?
Check both devices use the same Apple Account in FaceTime. On the Mac, it's shown in FaceTime > Settings > General. On the iPhone, look in Settings > Apps > FaceTime.
If your phone carrier supports Wi-Fi Calling, open the iPhone's Settings, tap Apps, then Phone, then Wi-Fi Calling, and turn on Add Wi-Fi Calling for Other Devices. Your Mac can then make calls even when the iPhone isn't nearby.
If calls come in but your Mac stays silent, a Focus such as Do Not Disturb may be on. Turn it off from Control Center in the menu bar.
Turn Wi-Fi off and on on both devices, then restart them. Sign out of FaceTime on the Mac and back in if it still doesn't ring.
If the setting is on at both ends and calls still never reach your Mac, contact Apple Support.
