Stop Quick Note opening when your pointer hits the corner
Quick answer
Open System Settings > Desktop & Dock, click Hot Corners… and set the bottom-right corner to the dash (-). Quick Note stops opening when your pointer slips into that corner.
Why it happens
Hot Corners run an action when the pointer reaches a corner of the screen. On a Mac, the bottom-right corner opens Quick Note unless you change it. It's easy to hit by accident while reaching for a scroll bar or the edge of a window.
How to fix it
Choose Apple menu > System Settings and click Desktop & Dock in the sidebar.
Scroll down to Mission Control and click the Hot Corners… button.
Desktop & Dock›Mission Control›Hot Corners…
Click the menu for the bottom-right corner and choose the dash (-). Click Done.
When you do want a Quick Note, press Fn-Q (the fn key may show a globe).
Still not fixed?
Like the corner but hate the accidents? Hold Command, Option, Control or Shift while you choose Quick Note in that menu. The corner then only works while you hold that key.
Check the other three corners in the same window. Any of them can be set to an action you trip over, or to the dash.
If a note is still on screen, it's one that opened earlier. Close it with Command-W. Your Quick Notes are kept in the Notes app.
If Quick Note keeps opening with every corner set to the dash, restart your Mac. If it carries on, contact Apple Support.
