Your Mac's pointer gets huge when you shake the mouse
Quick answer
That's Shake mouse pointer to locate. Turn it off in System Settings > Accessibility > Display to stop the pointer growing, or leave it on to find a lost pointer quickly.
Why it happens
Your Mac makes the pointer big for a moment when you wiggle the mouse or move a finger fast on the trackpad. It's there to help you spot the pointer on a large or busy screen. The pointer shrinks back as soon as you slow down.
How to fix it
Open the Apple menu, choose System Settings and click Accessibility in the sidebar.
Click Display, scroll down to the Pointer section and turn off Shake mouse pointer to locate. Turn it back on any time you miss it.
Accessibility›Display›Shake mouse pointer to locate
Give the mouse a quick shake to test it. The pointer should stay the same size.
Still not fixed?
If the pointer stays big all the time, that's the Pointer size slider in the same section. Drag it to the left for the normal size.
Accessibility›Display›Pointer size
If you often lose the pointer, keep the shake setting on and choose a bright Pointer fill color in the same section. With more than one display, check the other screen too.
Accessibility›Display
If the pointer jumps or grows while you aren't touching the mouse, clean the sensor underneath and use a mouse mat on glass or shiny desks.
If the pointer still grows with the setting off, restart your Mac. If that doesn't help, contact Apple Support.
