Make your Mac's mouse pointer bigger and easier to see
Quick answer
Go to System Settings, then Accessibility, then Display, and drag the Pointer size slider to the right. The pointer grows as you drag.
Why it happens
Your Mac ships with a small pointer that suits most people up close. On a large monitor, with tired eyes or with cataracts, it can vanish against busy windows. The Pointer size slider makes it bigger everywhere, in every app.
How to fix it
Open the Apple menu in the top-left corner and choose System Settings.
Click Accessibility in the sidebar, then Display. Scroll down to the Pointer section and drag Pointer size to the right until the arrow is comfortable to see.
Accessibility›Display›Pointer size
Move the mouse around a few windows to check it. Too big now? Drag the same slider back to the left a little.
Still not fixed?
Still hard to spot? On the same page, pick a bold Pointer fill color and a contrasting outline. Reset Colors puts the usual black and white back.

If you often lose the pointer, turn on Shake mouse pointer to locate. A quick wiggle makes it swell for a moment so you can find it.

If the slider is greyed out, a school or company may manage this Mac. Ask whoever set it up.
If the pointer jumps, freezes or flickers whatever size you pick, try another mouse or the trackpad. If that doesn't help, contact Apple Support, as it may be a hardware fault.
Questions people ask
How do I make my cursor bigger on a MacBook?
Open System Settings, click Accessibility, then Display, and drag Pointer size to the right. It works the same on a MacBook and a desktop Mac.
Why does my cursor get huge when I move the mouse quickly?
That's Shake mouse pointer to locate. Turn it off in Accessibility, then Display, if you don't want it.
Can I change the colour of the mouse pointer?
Yes. In Accessibility, then Display, choose a Pointer fill color and a Pointer outline color. Reset Colors brings back the default.
