Get your Mac to fill in saved passwords and passkeys again
Quick answer
Open System Settings > General > AutoFill & Passwords and turn on AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys. In Safari, also open Settings, click AutoFill and tick the user names and passwords box.
Why it happens
Your Mac only offers saved passwords when AutoFill for passwords and passkeys is on. That switch covers Safari and apps, and Safari has its own AutoFill box on top. If either is off, sign-in forms stay empty and Safari stops offering to save new passwords.
How to fix it
Open the Apple menu, choose System Settings, click General, then AutoFill & Passwords.
Turn on AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys. Turn it off instead if you want your Mac to stop offering passwords.
General›AutoFill & Passwords›AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys
Open Safari, choose Safari > Settings… and click AutoFill. Tick the user names and passwords box.
Go to a site you've saved a login for and click in the user name field. Your saved account should pop up, ready to fill.
Still not fixed?
If a password you saved on your iPhone doesn't appear, check that passwords sync. Turn on Sync this Mac under Passwords in iCloud settings, and use the same Apple Account on both devices.
Apple Account›iCloud›Passwords›Sync this Mac
Open the Passwords app and search for the website. If there's no entry, the login was never saved. Sign in by hand once and choose to save it when Safari asks.
On your iPhone or iPad, the same kind of switch is in Settings under General, then AutoFill & Passwords. Turn it on there too if you want filling on every device.
If AutoFill is on everywhere and still nothing fills on any site, restart your Mac and try again. If that doesn't help, contact Apple Support.
