Share your location with your family, or stop sharing it

Why it happens

Family Sharing can share each member's location through Find My, so everyone can see where the others are. Your location is sent from one device, usually your iPhone, so what family see depends on where that device is. Each person decides for themselves, and parents can manage it for younger children.

How to fix it

1. Open the Apple menu, choose System Settings, and click Family in the sidebar.

2. Click Location Sharing.

3. Check the list. It shows who in your family shares their location, and lets you choose whether to share yours.

4. Click Done. Changes show up in Find My for your family.

Still not fixed?

1. Your family sees your location from one device. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Find My, and check Share My Location and which device is My Location.

2. Location not updating? Make sure Location Services is on, on the device that shares it.

3. To see where family members are, open Find My and click People.

4. If location sharing won't turn on or off, or family members never see your location, contact Apple Support. They can check your Apple Account and Family Sharing group with you.
