Fix Calendar events showing at the wrong time on your Mac
Quick answer
In Calendar, choose Calendar > Settings…, click Advanced and turn on Turn on time zone support. Then pick your time zone in the pop-up next to the search field and check Date & Time.
Why it happens
Every event is stored with a time zone, and Calendar shows it converted to the zone you're viewing in. If your Mac's time zone is wrong, for example after a flight, or an event was saved in another zone, times can look an hour or more off. Time zone support lets you see and set the zone yourself.
How to fix it
Open Calendar and choose Calendar, then Settings… from the menu bar. Click Advanced and tick Turn on time zone support.
Calendar›Settings…›Advanced›Turn on time zone support
Close the settings window. A time zone pop-up now appears in the toolbar, next to the search field. Choose the zone you're in.
Check your Mac's own time zone. Open System Settings, click General, then Date & Time, and turn on Set time zone automatically using your current location. Make sure the time zone shown there is right.
General›Date & Time›Set time zone automatically using your current location
Look at the event again. It should now show at the right local time.
Still not fixed?
If one event is still off, double-click it and look at its time zone. With time zone support on, each event has its own time zone setting, so check it's the one the meeting was really booked in.
If an invite from someone abroad looks wrong, ask them which time zone they meant. A time typed into the wrong zone on their side shows wrong on everyone's calendar.
Wrong on your iPhone too? Check the time zone there in Settings, under General, then Date & Time, and look for Time Zone Override in the iPhone's Calendar settings.
If Calendar still shows old times, choose View, then Refresh Calendars, or quit Calendar with Command-Q and open it again.

If events keep moving after all of this, or your Mac's clock keeps showing the wrong time, contact Apple Support.
Questions people ask
Why are my calendar events an hour off on my Mac?
Usually your Mac or Calendar is set to a different time zone than the event. Turn on time zone support in Calendar's Advanced settings and check Date & Time.
How do I change the time zone in Mac Calendar?
Turn on time zone support in Calendar > Settings… > Advanced, then pick a zone from the pop-up next to the search field.
Why did my calendar times change after I flew abroad?
Your Mac moved to the new local time zone, so Calendar shows events in local time. Pick your home zone in the time zone pop-up if you'd rather see that.
