Find the Liquid Glass slider on macOS 27

Why it happens

On macOS 26 Liquid Glass had two choices, Clear and Tinted. macOS 27 swaps them for a single slider, so you can land anywhere between the two. If you're looking for the old buttons, the slider in the same spot replaces them.

How to fix it

1. Choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Appearance in the sidebar.

2. Find Liquid Glass. On macOS 27, drag its slider to the left for a clearer look or to the right for more tint. On macOS 26 you'll see Clear and Tinted instead, so pick one.

3. Open a menu or look at the Dock to see the change. It applies straight away, so you can nudge the slider until text is comfortable to read.

macOS 26 has two choices, Clear and Tinted, from macOS 26.1. macOS 27 replaces them with one Liquid Glass slider in the same place.

Still not fixed?

1. Not sure which version you have? Choose Apple menu > About This Mac. If it says macOS 26, look for Clear and Tinted instead of a slider.

2. Want menus and sidebars fully solid? Turn on Reduce transparency in Accessibility > Display. On macOS 27, when Reduce Transparency is on, adjusting Liquid Glass may turn it off, so check it again after moving the slider.

3. If Liquid Glass is missing from Appearance altogether, install the latest update in Software Update.
