I want a physical security key to protect my Apple Account
Your Apple Account can require a physical security key instead of a code when signing in on a new device.
Open Apple Account > Sign-In & Security > Two-Factor Authentication. In the Security Keys row click Set Up (or Add if you already have keys) and follow the steps. You need at least two keys; if you lose all your keys and devices you can be locked out for good.
